About “Canvas”

You have the power to change and improve the canvas of your life.…

There is more to a painting than what can be seen. No two paintings are the same, and these unique details can include: the number of layers, the amount of time and care behind it, the types of materials used, and if one person or others contributed to the painting. Like a canvas, our lives are multi-layered. Sometimes people paint on our canvas without our permission, or we may have painted things that we don't like to look at. The great news is what you see now is not the finished design.

Who Do We Help

We meet people where they are, which includes all cultures, ethnicities, religions, and sexualities.  We believe each person is an expert on their own life, and are honored to sit with them, encourage them, and facilitate conversations that will foster growth and acceptance. The only exception to this vision is if someone is or plans on hurting themselves or others. This practice has been designed to be for the welfare of all persons invested in their mental and emotional health.

We are complex beings, and all of our aspects (biological, psychological, social, & spiritual) are important on the path to wellness. Sometimes it’s hard to see how a person’s spiritual or higher power beliefs have anything to do with what we work on in counseling, but they can bring up various feelings that indicate something important about who you are and about your wellness journey. These feelings and responses surrounding the spiritual aspect can include hurt, confusion, anger, disappointment, curiosity, surprise, hatred, avoidance, appreciation, gratefulness, abandonment, and more. We welcome all of these feelings, and we will help you find the peace and healing you are coming to counseling to work on while respecting your beliefs.
