Internal Family Systems Therapy
For those that want to understand the parts of their mind and how they all work together as a family.
YOU’VE BEEN STRUGGLING FOR A WHILE NOW.
You feel like you're constantly at war with yourself, and you don't know how to make it stop. You've tried everything, but nothing seems to help. It's like there's this voice inside your head that never stops whispering that you're not good enough.
You've likely thought or said something like:
"Part of me wants to get up early and work out, but another part of me wants to hit snooze a few more times."
"Another piece of cake sounds good to part of me, but the more responsible part of me knows I've had enough."
"Part of me feels really excited about my upcoming trip, and another part of me is really going to miss my family and feels sad."
When we understand these parts and the messages they send, we can begin to heal from our past hurts and move toward more healthy living, both within ourselves and with others.
You are not broken.
What is IFS therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on a client’s internal “parts” and “Self.” It offers a way of helping you understand how your mind works.
Our mind is made up of different parts, which we refer to as sub-personalities or families.
These parts take on different roles, like an inner critic or inner child. Each part has its own feelings, like anger and shame.
When we understand these parts and the messages they send, we can begin to heal from our past hurts and move toward more healthy living, both within ourselves and with others.
IFS has been shown to be effective in helping people deal with a wide range of issues.
This type of therapy can help individuals to understand and feel more acceptance for all parts of themselves.
CONFRONT WHAT’S HOLDING YOU BACK
What can Internal Family Systems therapy help with?
Some examples of topics include:
Anxiety
Depression
Addiction
Trauma
Stress
IFS therapy can also assist in resolving conflict between different "parts" of the self, ultimately leading to a more cohesive sense of self.
During therapy, you will work with your therapist to identify and understand the different parts of your personality.
You may also explore how these parts interact with each other and how you can learn to better manage them. Ultimately, your therapist can help you develop a more positive and well-rounded sense of self.
How is IFS therapy different?
IFS therapy takes a non-pathologizing approach to therapy. That means that we do not see the different parts of our personality as being “wrong” or “bad.” We see them as being natural and normal.
We also believe that everyone has a core Self, which is the wise and loving part of you that knows what is best for you. This part of you can be accessed through IFS therapy.
IFS therapy is also different from other forms of talk therapy in that it is very experiential.
That means that we will be doing more than just talking during our sessions. We may also use techniques such as visualization, imagery, and meditation.
What can I expect during IFS therapy?
Internal family systems therapy can help you understand and heal the different parts of yourself. It works by:
identifying and exploring the different parts of your personality;
understanding how these parts interact with each other; and
learning how to heal the parts that are causing pain or difficulty.
This type of therapy can be very helpful in understanding yourself and your relationships.

During our initial meeting, we will review the documents you signed and answer any questions you have about therapy in general. We will then spend some time talking about your goals for therapy and what you hope to achieve.
If you decide to move forward with IFS therapy, we will begin by exploring your early childhood experiences and how they may have contributed to the formation of your internal family system. We will also identify any negative messages that you received during childhood and how these messages may be affecting you currently.
As we work together, you will learn about the different parts of your personality and how they interact with each other. You will also learn how to better manage them so that you can live a more fulfilling and satisfying life.
